Electron microscopic observation of pulmonary alveolar structures.

چکیده
The structure of alveolus has long been one of the themes that attracted the attention of many physicia[s, and since 1808, when Reisseisen said that the air cells were merely extremities of as many bronchial tubes lined by erdinary mucous membrane, the covering tissue of the alveolar wall has become a pivotal point of discussions and many opinions have been expressed as to the existence and character of the covering tissue as well as the relations between the air spaces and the respiratory capillaries. It may be said, however, that we have not yet arrived at any definite conclusion. The author of this article has, therefore, occupied himself in electron rnicroscopic

Morphological Characteristics of a Rat Model of Reexpansion Pulmonary Edema
Objective: Reexpansion pulmonary edema (RPE) is a severe disorder, and its pathophysiology is not well understood. One proposed mechanism for RPE is that chemical substances such as cytokines increase alveolar permeability. Another possible mechanism is that alveolar distention during reexpansion causes physical damage. To test the hypothesis that sudden alveolar distention damages alveolar cel...
متن کاملA new myelin-like laminated body found in two cases of pulmonary alveolar proteinosis.
Electron microscopic observations were made on lung tissue, broncho-pulmonary lavage fluid and sputum in 2 cases of pulmonary alveolar proteinosis. Diagnosis was established by open lung biopsy in both cases. In Case 1 the electron microscopic samples were obtained from the surgical specimen. In Case 2 an electron microscopic observation was made only on the lavage fluid and sputum. The alveola...
متن کاملUltrastructural study on the alveolar-capillary injury with pulmonary edema induced by oleic acid in dogs.
Oleic acid induced pulmonary edema was subjected as an experimental model of ARDS. Three adult mongrel dogs were injected with 0. 09 ml/kg of oleic acid into the pulmonary artery and sacrificed 2 hours later. Light and electron microscopic studies were carried out on the pulmonary specimen. The light microsc9pic findings showed bronchovascular cuffs and alveolar flooding. The electron microscop...
